Globe Gadget Care - a mobile phone insurance program

By
Globe is offering a new program to protect your mobile devices bought from them. Caters from accidents to loss of device , depending on the coverage you applied for. I'm not sure if this is the first insurance being given by telephone companies here in the Philippines but this is the first that I am aware of.

Accidental Damage - Globe Care covers damage due to accidents, even
Theft or Robbery - Loss due to theft or robbery
Postpaid Bill Protect - if you can't pay your bills anymore
Unit Replacement - repair or even replace the affected device depending on the coverage of your insurance
World wide coverage - applies to you Globe devices even when you are outside the country

Gadget Care Coverage Types

Basically, there are two types of coverage under Gadget Care: Comprehensive protection and Voluntary Protection

  • Comprehensive Protection Coverage - new and re-contracting subscribers who want to get a new device under My Super Plan
  • Voluntary Protection Coverage - Postpaid Subscribers with existing devices under a Postpaid plan

How to apply

1. If you're applying for a new postpaid line under My Super Plan with a preferred device:

  • Register your new device to Gadget Care.
  • Fill up Gadget Care Availment form which will be submitted together with MSA and application documents.

2. If you're a loyalty subscriber who wants to recontract for a new device:

  • Register your new device to Gadget Care.
  • Fill up Gadget Care Availment form which will be submitted together with MSA and application documents.
  • The form must be signed by the account holder.

3. If you have an existing device under a Postpaid plan, a phone not availed through or a non-brand new phone:

  • Proceed to any Globe store to present your current phone for device verification.
  • Fill up Gadget Care availment form which will be submitted together with MSA and application documents (if application is new).
Devices that you want to enroll must:

  • Be of the type approved by Globe - smartphone or feature phone (sorry no dumbphones)
  • IMEI is visible and readable, with no external damage
  • In good working condition
  • Not be part of the list of reported stolen/lost phones

Now how would Globe deal with fraudulent claims? Gadget Care will not cover lost or misplaced phone, but people can always say that it was pick-pocketed from them and they didn't noticed it.
